Harjinder is a highly experienced Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP). She is also a Registered Mental Health Nurse and Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Birmingham.
With over 20 years of clinical experience, Harj has worked across NHS, private, and voluntary sectors, supporting vulnerable individuals affected by:
- Domestic violence and abuse
- Trauma and bereavement
- Anxiety, depression, and PTSD
- Road traffic accidents and homicide-related grief
- Police and armed forces trauma cases
She is a Director at BABCP, helping shape national standards for CBT provision and registration. Harj is fluent in Punjabi, and offers culturally adapted CBT interventions for South Asian communities, including work with interpreters when needed.
Her academic work includes doctoral research on domestic violence in the Sikh community, and she has published internationally on race equality, trauma, and mental health. She has received the Keele Excellence Award for Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, and was named Sikh Woman of Substance 2024 by the Sikh Women’s Alliance.
Harj offers therapy via virtual, telephone, and in-person sessions, with flexible hours for keyworkers and shift workers.
